The Democratic party continues inching toward open civil war with only three weeks remaining before the official kickoff of primary season.
With the field now having been winnowed down to four contenders and Amy Klobuchar, the knives are starting to come out and it is Bernie Sanders who had one embedded firmly between his shoulder blades.
The party’s establishment is flummoxed that the geriatric socialist remains a serious threat despite largely negative media coverage and as in 2016, the DNC is looking to derail his campaign before the convention.
With a recent Des Moines Register poll showing that Sanders is leading and that foggy Joe Biden is in fourth place, something had to be done to maintain the status quo and like magic, CNN published a hit piece alleging that in a private meeting, he told Elizabeth Warren that a woman couldn’t beat Trump.
CNN did its part during Tuesday’s debate and let Warren get away with springing an ambush on Sanders, repeatedly playing the gender card and at the end, when Bernie offered his hand, she rejected it.
As candidates exchanged pleasantries and handshakes on stage, Elizabeth Warren approached Bernie Sanders, who stretched out his hand for her to shake. But Warren either didn’t see — or rebuffed him, and a tense exchange followed.
Warren gestured with her right hand, then clasped both hands together while addressing a seemingly surprised Sanders.
Warren kept speaking to Sanders, who nodded, then put his hands up as if to stop her. Both spoke, as Tom Steyer approached the pair. Then Sanders seemed to offer a few sentences before both turned their backs — Sanders a split second before Warren — and walked away.
The encounter came after the two progressive stalwarts signaled that they trying to deescalate hostilities during the two-hour debate. Instead, their fleeting encounter appeared to revive tensions between the longtime friends — sparking intense interest in what was said when their mics were shut off.
Heading into the night, the two had clashed over differing recollections of a 2018 meeting between them to discuss the possibility of them both running for president. Warren stood by a CNN report that Sanders told her he didn’t think a woman could defeat Donald Trump. Sanders denied that version of their conversation.
With 2016 permanently burned into their minds, Sanders’ army of devout supporters exploded on CNN and Warren for what was clearly an orchestrated setup to kneecap the socialist revolution before the critical Iowa caucuses.
The hashtags #CNNisTrash, #NeverWarren and #WarrenIsASnake were all trending on Twitter as the Bernie-bots took aim at what they already see as a corrupt process in which the tables will be tilted against them.
The handshake snub capped off a terrible day for Team Bernie after the release of a devastating video from conservative watchdog Project Veritas featured a Sanders Iowa organizer calling for Trump supporters to be rounded up and put into reeducation camps if they are able to gain power.
Via Real Clear Politics:
A campaign organizer for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders warned about mass violence and advocated for the use of gulags for “re-education” in a conversation caught on tape by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas. In the undercover video, Kyle Jurek, an Iowa field organizer for the Sanders campaign, said the country will have to “spend billions” on re-education for people that are “Nazified.”
“Do you even think that some of these like MAGA people could be re-educated?” an undercover reporter asked.
“I mean, we gotta try,” Jurek answered. “Like, in Nazi Germany after the fall of the Nazi party there was a shit ton of the populace that was f***ing Nazified. Germany had to spend billions of dollars re-educating their f***ing people to not be Nazis.”
“Like, we’re probably going to have to do the same f***ing thing here,” he continued. “That’s kind of what Bernie’s f***ing like, ‘Hey, free education for everybody!’ because we’re going to have to teach you to not be a f***ing Nazi.”
The clearly deranged Bernie 2020 organizer also threatened that there would be mass violence at this summer’s convention if Sanders was once again cheated out of the nomination by the DNC.
“If Bernie doesn’t get the nomination or it goes to a second round at the DNC convention, f***ing Milwaukee will burn,” Jurek warned. “It’ll start in Milwaukee and then when they f***ing, when the police push back on that, other cities will just f***ing (blow up sound).”
It is probably pretty safe to assume that this sort of sentiment is widespread throughout Sanders’ revolutionary forces and now that Warren and CNN have fired the first shots, the coming Dem civil war is going to be brutal.
