Wizkid Breaks Record Again, Becomes First African With Billboard Nominations

The Daddy Yo of African music, Wizid has secured 7 nominations at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards scheduled to air on May 21 at 8PM on ABC.

The Daddy Yo singer who recently recruited Canadian rapper Drake for his single Come Closer grabbed nominations for Top Hot 100 Song, Top Selling Song, Top Radio Song, Top Streaming Song (Audio), Top Collaboration, Top R&B Song, and Top R&B Collaboration.

Wizkid secured all these nominations with just one song One Dance which also featured Kyla.

This is no mean feat especially as it makes him the first African artist to ever secure nominations at the Billboard Music Awards which has been in existence since December 1990 until it went dormant in 2006. The awards returned in 2011 and has been held annually in since in May.

Congratulations to him….
