Kerry Washington Named As OPI’s First Creative Ambassador

Kerry Washington has been named the first-ever Creative Ambassador of OPI Nail Polish.

The 38-year-old Scandal star, who is known to love a bold nail color, will be responsible for cocurating the shades and dreaming up polish names. She will co-design a range of nail polishes alongside OPI co-founder and creative director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann.

In a release on Friday, December 11, Washington, who shares a daughter, Isabelle, 19 months, with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, said: “I am a huge fan of OPI and was ecstatic when Suzi approached me to partner with the brand,”

“I’m so inspired by Suzi and what she has built with the OPI brand. OPI’s broad spectrum of fashionable colors and iconic names have become an industry standard. I’m thrilled to work with Suzi on developing gorgeous new shades and exciting new names.”

“This is going to be a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to testing out new colours on the red carpet. The fun, for me, is that nail lives in the crossover space between fashion and beauty. I love to play with nail colour on the red carpet and explore new shades.”  Washington told WWD.

“One of my favorite shows is Scandal,” Weiss-Fischmann said. “I noticed that the show was on the tip of everyone’s tongue from the boardroom to the watercooler, and [that] Kerry had unquestionably become a role model for women everywhere.”

“When the opportunity came around to have Kerry join OPI as our creative ambassador, the answer was instantly yes,” added Weiss-Fischmann.

“She empowers women of all ages through her sophisticated style, humour and confidence. Most of all, she has a huge love of nail lacquer and has worn OPI for years and years. I’m looking forward to working with Kerry in 2016 to create some new and fabulous OPI shades.”
