Given the ‘opportunity’, many male artiste will thank their star and say its ‘Heaven on earth’, when a female fan bring out their breast (boobs) for them to place their sign(autograph). But not Rasquie, the ‘Soji” musician. He recently disclosed to Showtime that he once refused the request of one of his female fans to pen his autograph on her breast.
According to him, “A female fan came close to me after one of my stage performance and brought out her boobs for me to sign, but I refused. I did not oblige her because I feel it’s not decent enough to sign there when there are other parts of the body like the hands, shoulders, and others that I could sign on.”
When asked about the Nigerian music industry and what he felt was the challenges facing it, he said, the industry doesn’t seem to respect those who once reigned in the past, that it only recognises and respects the currently reigning champions. Once you are no longer there, it seems no one cares about you again, and it shouldn’t be so.
He also said, “In the other part of the world, artistes and musicians who are Grammy award winners are still being recognised and they keep making money from their music years after they were released. He noted that there is more money flowing in the industry now and the new young stars coming up are enjoying the fruits of what they, the pioneers, laboured for. But he regretted that they were not giving adequate recognition.”
“For now, I have a label and am focusing on my career and later to groom other artistes.” he said. He also revealed that he has been working in the studio and dropping new songs which are full of insightful and inspiring messages.
